Welcome to the online home of the Fire Department of Norwood Young America, Minnesota. Norwood Young America is located approximately 40 miles to the west of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Staffed by 28 members, the City of Norwood Young America volunteer Fire Department provides assistance during emergency situations for the City of NYA and the surrounding area.

Our Condolences To The Family of Hamburg Firefighter, Kerry Buckentin.
The Norwood Young America Fire Department joins the Hamburg Fire Department, family and friends in mourning the loss of Kerry Buckentin, who was killed in an ATV accident Sunday evening. Kerry was a long time member of the Hamburg Fire Department, serving as Assistant Chief for a time. Our thoughts go out to our friends on the Hamburg FD. A memorial service, with firefighter walk-through will be Thursday, August 5. Funeral will be Friday, August 6. |

Department Softball and Volleyball Teams Have Successful Weekend in New Germany.
The Norwood Young America Fire Department softball team had a successful weekend in New Germany, as they competed in the 29th Annual Firefighter Softball Tournament. The softball team finished 3rd Place in the 18-team tournament, losing to Mayer 3-2. Waconia Fire Department won the tournament. The FDNYA Women's Volleyball team finished 2nd place . . . also losing to Mayer FD. Thank you to the New Germany Fire Department, who always put on an outstanding tournament!

Come Celebrate the 149th Annual Stiftungsfest Celebration: Minnesota's Oldest Festival!
Come out to Norwood Young America August 27-29, 2010 as the Fire Department again hosts the 149th Annual Stiftungsfest Celebration! This year's celebration features a variety of events including a carnival, 5k race, softball tournaments, music all day and night, food, beer, bingo, arts & crafts and much more. The headline acts under the big tent this year will be 80's rock cover band, "Hairball", as well as the country act, "Diamondback". For more info visit www.stiftungsfest.org. |
